On Campus
Open Houses Set for Newly Completed Capstone Learning Academy.
With construction completed, Capstone Learning Academy, The University of Alabama’s new early child development center, welcomed University employee and student families at four open house events in July.
UA Launches New Center for AI Research and Development.
The University of Alabama is setting a new standard for AI research and education with the opening of the Alabama Center for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence, housed within the College of Engineering.
UA Strengthens Commitment to Rural Communities Through STARS College Network.
The University of Alabama has joined the STARS College Network, a coalition of 32 of the nation’s most prominent institutions dedicated to ensuring that students from rural and small-town communities have the resources they need to be successful throughout their college journey.
Layzell to Lead UA Finance and Operations.
Dr. Dan Layzell will join The University of Alabama as vice president for finance and operations and treasurer starting Sept. 30, pending approval by the Compensation Committee of The University of Alabama System Board of Trustees.

Business Hall of Fame to Induct 7.
The Alabama Business Hall of Fame will honor seven business leaders who have brought lasting fame to the state of Alabama through their business contributions during a ceremony in Birmingham Nov. 14.
Student-Athletes, Alumni to Represent UA in Paris Olympics.
Three University of Alabama student-athletes and 14 alumni representing a total of 14 countries will compete in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

UA Programs Prepare Rural Alabamians for Careers in Health Care.
Thirty-five high school students and recent graduates from rural Alabama communities are spending part of their summer at The University of Alabama College of Community Health Sciences to learn about the need rural communities have for more doctors and other health care professionals.
Innovative UA Research Recognized with NSF CAREER Awards.
Four professors at The University of Alabama received one of the National Science Foundation’s most prestigious honors for early-career faculty.

Congratulations to BOA member Terri Brewer! Brewer, who is director of public relations for the Tuscaloosa County School System, recently received a Gold Medallion Award at the National School Public Relations Association conference. The award is presented in recognition of outstanding educational public relations programs that have gone above and beyond and made impacts in their communities.
As BOA members are also UA graduates, we know how invaluable your experience as UA alumni has been. If you have not already done so, please consider participating in your local alumni chapter.
